I first heard about Naomi Shobha from Nick Adams of Soul-Fi records. Nick and I met at the Winter Music Conference in 2008. We talked a lot of music and shared our admiration for artists like Sara Devine and Carolyn Harding. A couple of months ago Nick sent me promos of a couple of tracks he had coming out on Soul-Fi records. One of them was “Letter To A Friend” by Shobha as she is known professionally. I fell in love with this track right away. The combination of the production skills of Nick Adams and Shobha’s voice and songwriting skills make this collaboration a standout.
Shobha is Canadian singer/songwriter originally from Halifax. Her debut album is called “Work In Progress” and her latest single “He Said He Said” is enjoying a lot of radio play there. She has won competitions in her native Canada and has gained favorable reviews from industry professionals. She represented Toronto as the winner of the Canada’s 2008 15th National Song Writing Competition for the song “Always On Your Feet.” When you hear her music you’ll know right away
