Sunlightsquare (ALBUM REVIEW)

02 March 2009

Urban Latin Soul

Sunlightsquare Records (UK)

URBAN LATIN SOUL

Reviewed by Gareth Morgan

During these cold, dark winter nights, it's sometimes nice to play music of a warmer climate. Music that makes you think of sun drenched beaches, not the streetlight down your road that's stopped working because of the ice!

Step into the arena Sunlightsquare! This is the second long player from the London based
Nu-Jazz dudesters, and a good album it is too.

Sunlightsquare are a collective of musicians and singers, who record and play their music live. Blending a mixture of Jazz, Salsa, Soul and Funk the band have a unique sound that's hard to

put into one specific genre. There's even Ska influences on this album, which is a pleasure to listen to! A definite album to play again and again!
