Back To Deep EP Vol III

Enzyme Black Recordings

BACK TO DEEP EP VOLUME III

Reviewed by Gareth Morgan

Danny J Lewis works under several monikers, one of them being Enzyme Black for a slightly techier, more stompy house sound. Think heavier bass, Kerri Chandler type percussion and you're half way to imagining the kind of sound I mean.

Back to Deep EP Vol III stays on this path, but also has a deeply melodic and soulful come jazzy side, with some lovely keys being played.

There are 4 tracks on this EP, so let's start with the first, as that tends to make sense! 'Money Honey' is a tough little number, that softens up slightly as the vox kicks in. It's got a very catchy

hook and opens the EP up for the remaining tracks. Second up is the superb 'Drop'. This has the low bass and KC percussion I mentioned, but then breaks like Spring into Summer with lovely a floaty piano, and what sounds like it could be a low octave grand piano. '9 Teez' is up next and is also another lovely track. Reversed stabs, an infectious bassline and a 90's sounding vocal sample all add weight. Finally it's the turn of 'Inside My Mind' another well thought out organ led production. This is a superb release!
