Here at SUHQ we've been eagerly awaiting Phlash's new album to drop through the letterbox. If 2008 was all about Phil Asher, 2009 was going to be all about his new album if some of last year's singles were anything to go by.
I genuinely can't remember being so excited about reviewing an album. The 'friends' part of Phlash and Friends is awe inspiring - Karizma, Dego, Zed Bias, Marc de Clive Lowe, Afronaught, Zansika, Benji B and Alma Horton are just some of the names that have appeared/co-produced or co-written some of the tracks on this album.
With that kind of line up, and with Mr. Asher taking control at the helm, it's no real surprise that this album is nothing short of poetic! I can't find adequate words to describe the beauty of this project, the music simply speaks for itself and is an absolute journey of a CD. The last time I listened to a CD (albeit a mixed one) that took me on a journey like this, was Danny Tenaglia on Global Underground a good few years ago.
Deep Electronic Sound is a very apt name for this album. This is an album not just for the house purists, but for fans of anything of the electronic ilk that has some thought, love, soul and intelligence behind it's creation!
